For our partner a Fortune 500 global power company, we are looking for an experienced Bulgarian tax professional with good accounting knowledge, to join their team for the role of
CORPORATE TAX ADVISOR
The ROLE will be responsible for Bulgarian tax compliance for CIT, VAT, WHT and other Bulgarian tax returns, together with quarterly US GAAP tax reporting, dealing with the local tax authorities, and proactively advising on Bulgarian tax developments and their potential impact on the company.
The role involves working with the Eurasia Tax and Governance team, external tax advisers and the wider Eurasia Finance group on both Bulgarian and cross-border tax matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing of the tax provisions for the IFRS accounts, preparation and filing of the CIT returns (including liaison with advisers), evaluation of positions taken in the returns, the payment of tax liabilities within the deadlines and filing tax returns with the Bulgarian tax authorities;
- Managing of tax audits, enquiries, investigations and other correspondence from the Bulgarian tax authorities, including data gathering, preparation of responses and summarizing the issues for the tax management team;
- Preparing of ASC 740 packages and memos, assessment of uncertain tax positions, and quantification of the impact of tax law changes;
- Preparing and submitting of Bulgarian VAT returns, the payment of VAT liabilities within the deadlines and correspondence with the Bulgarian tax authorities;
- Preparing of quarterly and annual withholding tax (WHT) returns for Bulgarian entities; collecting and maintaining of documentation for the simplified WHT procedures; document the positions taken for complex cases;
- Liaising with advisers and internal functions, and managing of the preparation and finalization of the required Local Files;
- Preparing and filing of other tax returns within scope (e.g. municipal taxes and garbage collection fees);
- Monitoring changes in tax law, including EU and OECD developments that could impact the companies, and provide timely assessments of their impact to the company; in conjunction with other Finance functions and the businesses, assess the tax impact of changes to IFRS standards and business transactions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years relevant experience in international environment and ability to work effectively with other members of the Tax team, finance teams and the businesses;
- University degree in Law/Accounting/Economics or related;
- Outstanding interpersonal qualities and ability for effective communication skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Good accounting skills with ability to assess the Bulgarian tax impact from financial information;
- Excellent level of English written and spoken;
- Excellent usage of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and SAP.
